The Embroidery!
First, the lapels. I didn't have a pattern for these, so I cut out and pinned on the collar. I then sketched out a triangle that would fit properly into the gap and made two.
Then, sketching of the embroidery pattern! This took ages and several attempts - you have to wet the fabric to get the pen out, and then it won't write on it when wet, so it was a slow process. But I got there in the end!

And then the embroidering! I'm using Anchor thread. It's slightly more expensive (still <£1/skein, though) but so silky and tangles way less than cheap brands.

Then I made a second to match (NOT an easy task!)

And then this evening I traced the back panels from my new pattern pieces, cut them, stitched them, and now am embroidering them! I'm doing this in stages so that if I have to stop partway through the stitching I at least won't be lopsided.
